This is sad news and something my friends and I have been praying about all week. I went to high school with Chad and his wife Eden and hope that anyone who comes across my blog will help us bring him home!! Donations, in any amount can be made by visiting the trust fund site.
Chad Swenson
RECOVERY TRUST
Chad and Eden Swenson are residents of Houston, Texas. On October 25, 2010 while vacationing in Costa Rica, Chad suffered a major accident while white water rafting. The accident was caused by a falling tree limb that struck Chad directly above the forehead. He was carried out of the jungle by hand and duck taped to an upside down raft. He did not arrive at the trauma center until 15 hours after the accident. He suffered major head trauma involving severe brain swelling, subdural hematomas, broken orbital bones, broken upper sinuses, and suffers from respiratory distress syndrome.
Chad has been in ICU for the last 3 weeks and doctors have just completed his second brain surgery. Prognosis is still unknown until Chad fully awakes from his coma. Rehabilitation will be costly and crucial for Chad's recovery. Chad is self-employed, and his insurance will not cover air ambulance back to Houston which will cost between $30,000 - $40,000.
Family and friends have arrived in Costa Rica to support Chad and Eden in the days following the accident. Eden has remained a strong and loving wife throughout the crisis. Local Houstonians may recognize Eden from her position as General Manager at Escalantes in the Highland Village. Their return to the states is still unknown and depends upon Chad's recovery.
"Everyone wants to see a miracle, but noone ever wants to be in a position to need one...". Dear Lord, we need one... Please be at the prayer vigil on Friday the 19th to pray and raise the funds to bring Chad home!
